Among the earliest developments to define the now-familiar concept of “Lifestyle Centers,” Heron City was created by British entrepreneur and developer Gerald Ronson. Three centers were built in Spain—each more successful than the last—setting new standards for experiential outdoor environments.
These projects were among the first in Europe to integrate web-based audio, video, and specialty lighting into a unified control platform. Purpose-built, color-changing luminaires with embedded speakers enabled immersive, pre-programmed lighting and audio shows triggered automatically by the control system.
