Details
Established in 1858 on the Fitzroy River, Rockhampton, Queensland, grew from a pastoral settlement into a major port and gold rush city. Known as the “Beef Capital of Australia,” it was shaped by the 1858 Canoona gold rush and the massive Mount Morgan mine. The city features significant Victorian architecture, reflecting its 19th-century wealth and growth.

Rockhampton is the heart of the Fitzroy Basin, Australia’s second-largest river system, and is bordered by the brooding Berserker Ranges, ultimately delivering the best of both worlds for outdoor and adventure buffs.

The Council of Rockhampton took a giant leap forward by renovating downtown to its original historic look, adding riverside parks and amenities like Intellistreets®.

Intellistreets® provided a street pole-mounted Post Top Module to control the contemporary luminaire and provide a robust sound system. Push Blue buttons were a feature, as well as controlled receptacles. The nighttime feature of Intellistreets® was achieved by lighting the blue LED notification lights, which were so effective in their beauty and definition that the city could lower light levels along more than one mile of luminaires, saving energy.
